TYRE-LESS DEDICATION

Protecting the environment is a key objective for the Piritahi Alliance. Check out the story and video below that show why Jack was recognised.

Jack O’Toole, operator and labourer at Tāmaki, was awarded a Piritahi Health, Safety and Environment Quarterly Award of Excellence in December in recognition of outstanding work in protecting the environment – a key objective of the alliance.

Jack continuously steps up to keep Piritahi compliant with crucial environmental controls. On multiple occasions, Jack has prevented trucks from leaving with dirty wheels, redirecting them to the wheel wash station.

Tracking dirt onto the road spreads contaminants found in construction. Keeping trucks clean can be especially challenging in wet weather.

HSE Advisor, Noel Elias (pictured left) who nominated Jack (pictured right) for the award.

Jack consistently does the right thing in showing initiative. For his efforts, Jack was presented with a voucher from the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team.

This video from the Ōwairaka development site is an example of the value of Jack’s action. It shows a 32-wheeler loader being cleaned before it goes back on the road after delivering a digger to site.
